Squero recessed luminaires guide experience and atmosphere in this refined Montreal residence.
Ryan Residence, a stunning residential project by Montreal’s Dupont Blouin architects, is a work in contrasts. This reimagined suburban home is defined by light and darkness, openness and intimacy, simplicity and sumptuosity. Lighting, naturally, plays a central role in helping shape and define space within this setting.
A key element of the overall design is the home’s engineered wood flooring, sanded and stained black to create a dark foundation. Against this, a monochromatic palette of white sets a sophisticated tone. Squero recessed luminaires were selected to complement this refined aesthetic with their minimal profile, visual quietness, and precise, expressive illumination.
At less than two inches in width, Squero integrates seamlessly into ceilings throughout the residence. The collection’s flexibility gave the architects the freedom to tailor illumination to each space to create a choreographed guest journey for visitors of the home. In common areas, Squero warms up welcoming spaces that feel open and fluid, while in private areas, the fixtures help create more intimate compositions, providing ample illumination without overpowering the environment.
The result of the collaboration between Lumenwerx and the architects is a lighting solution that reinforces the home’s narrative of balance and contrast. The Ryan Residence perfectly demonstrates how Squero’s versatility and precision optics can elevate residential architecture through subtle, intentional illumination.
