Lumenwerx illuminates the energizing Chicago headquarters of an innovative technology manufacturer.
At the modernized Chicago headquarters of Littelfuse, Inc., an industrial technology manufacturing company, lighting does more than illuminate. Rather, it expresses the company’s core idea: Connection in Motion. With this in mind, our lighting strategy, developed in collaboration with project architects IA, unifies the two-storey environment, enhancing the openness of the floor plan while defining spaces for staff to connect.
From the moment visitors step off the elevator, they are greeted by long, linear forms of light. For added visual appeal, a dazzling lightning bolt is integrated into the lighting expression, evoking the company’s energy. Created using our Curvia and Curvia XYZ luminaires, these linear lighting elements orient guests, connect zones, and encourage movement into the space.
Curvia’s flexibility also allowed designers to mirror the organic flow of human interaction, providing ample illumination for spontaneous collaboration and focused work. Throughout the various spaces, including meeting rooms and open hoteling-style workstations, Curvia helps define space and contributes to a sense of flow. Integrated into the open-concept ceilings, it serves as a unique visual counterpoint to the natural materials used throughout the environment.
The overall effect is a dynamic yet inviting atmosphere that feels as open and vibrant as it does warm and intimate. It is a place where illumination serves as connective tissue, bridging departments, guiding behaviour, and embodying the company’s innovative spirit.
