A coordinated system balancing performance, comfort, and flexibility

At KPMG’s new Calgary offices, light functions as an integrated system, bringing clarity, cohesion, and performance to a complex, energetic working environment. The lighting strategy we designed to make it happen leverages a layered suite of luminaires chosen for their flexibility, architectural cohesion, and powerful optics.

Completed in just over 10 months, KPMG’s dramatic redesign encompasses 115,000 sq. ft. across five floors, anchored by a welcome floor and an iconic five-storey staircase linking it all together. To illuminate this diverse range of spaces, our team recommended an approach centred on Mikro recessed and Mikro pendant luminaires. Installed to establish a clean, continuous baseline of light, Mikro’s compact scale and integral LED drivers enhance spatial clarity without cluttering the surrounding architecture.

Building on this foundation, our Pivot system, including Dot modules, further gave designers the flexibility to introduce precise lighting for specific tasks and focal points. In noisy collaborative areas, Via 2 Acoustix pendants (including X Spoke and blank configurations), along with Curvia Acoustix pendants, provide precise lighting while also helping to dampen noise, thanks to their acoustic felt construction.

From floor to floor, this layered approach creates an environment in which each luminaire plays a distinct role. Across all five floors, every fixture works together to form a cohesive ecosystem of light. Gorgeous from every angle.
