Dynamic overhead patterns bring rhythm and continuity to IBM’s vibrant Montreal hub.
Who says corporate environments need to be uninspiring? Working alongside the design team at Ædifica, Lumenwerx helped develop a lighting strategy that’s anything but. Designed to capture IBM’s evolving “Live, Play, Work” culture, this elegant plan promotes collaboration and employee well-being throughout the company’s 32,000-square-foot Client Innovation Centre.
Designed to function as a connected workplace, the project called for lighting that could unify everything from collaborative gathering areas to open-concept offices and circulation zones. Beyond comfortable ambient illumination, the team sought a solution that would create visual continuity throughout the workplace.
The backbone of the strategy, our Via 3 pendants do much of the heavy lifting by establishing a vibrant overhead pattern that creates a sense of movement and flow. Installed in rhythmic configurations, the fixtures establish an unmistakable architectural language while providing ambient illumination that complements desk and task lighting. Via 2 surface direct fixtures extend the overhead pattern, maintaining visual continuity throughout the workplace, with low-glare illumination that casts a pleasing glow on the iconic artwork that enlivens the space.
In areas requiring additional illumination, Walo wall fixtures provide vibrant bands of reflected light. The overall strategy strikes the desired balance: visual cohesion that subtly guides circulation, inspires staff, and makes the office feel as comfortable and collaborative as possible.
