Lumenwerx illuminates study spaces, lounges, and hangout zones with striking effect at the Parc View at Commonwealth apartment complex.
Student living ain’t what it used to be. Parc View at Commonwealth, located near Virginia Commonwealth University, reimagines student housing as an integrated 16-storey vertical community. In collaboration with architect-designers Hickok Cole, Lumenwerx developed a comprehensive lighting strategy to tie it all together, from living and study areas to coworking lounges, fitness spaces, and more.
To support such a varied architectural layout, our teams devised a plan to optimize illumination for each activity zone. The backbone of the approach, linear Via luminaires set the tone with their clean architectural lines and balanced integration. These fit effortlessly into circulation areas and shared spaces, guiding movement and activity throughout the building.
In areas that require more precise accent lighting, we selected Voilà Downlight luminaires with integrated high-performance optics. These give the design team the flexibility to highlight key architectural elements while maintaining a refined ceiling plane. Additional decorative lighting elements bring life and interest to Parc View’s social zones. Poly pendants introduce geometric forms and eye-catching visual accents, while Rim pendants create a warm, welcoming atmosphere through soft, halo-like illumination. Linear Arro pendants add an additional layer of overhead acoustic performance.
Together, this custom suite of luminaires enhances student spaces to support daily tasks, study sessions, and the sense of community that comes with student living. Far beyond simple illumination, the lighting strategy reinforces this exceptional residence’s role as a bright, vibrant hub for student life.
