Lumenwerx partners with Champlin Architecture to design a lighting system to support healthcare providers and their patients.

At the Christ Hospital Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, in Cincinnati, lighting does double duty, bridging clinical performance and the patient experience. Developed in conjunction with Champlin Architecture, the lighting strategy offers precision and flexibility in highly technical, patient-facing environments, and warmth and comfort in patient areas.

The strategy starts with our Aera 4 Downlights, installed at the ceiling plane to deliver a quiet, low-glare foundation of light. Thanks to their high optical performance and UGR below 10, they provide consistent illumination while minimizing visual noise, promoting a sense of calm and well-being in procedure rooms and recovery areas.

Layered onto the downlighting, Via 4 and Via 1.5 recessed luminaires help organize the space, defining circulation paths and task zones, crucial in a hospital setting. As a flexible platform for continuous runs and tailored distributions, Via gives designers a practical solution for wall washing and general illumination, configured into patterns that reinforce spatial hierarchy and assist with wayfinding throughout the clinic.

In patient prep and recovery zones, a softer, more residential approach informs the lighting scheme. Here, fixtures from our Alcove, Cubito, and Via Splash families work together to create an intimate atmosphere that integrates into the architecture and smoothly complements natural daylight. The prognosis? A healthcare environment where lighting supports medical procedures and enhances the patient journey.
