In collaboration with its design partners, Lumenwerx worked to illuminate space and inspire curious minds at Boston’s LEGO Group Americas Hub.
At the new LEGO Group Americas Hub in Boston’s Back Bay, creativity lives in every square inch. Designed by BDG Architecture + Design and covering 157,000 square feet over six floors, the new headquarters provides space for more than 800 staff, stands as a new model for sustainable design and employee experience, and is awash in colour.
Naturally, in spaces designed to be as unique and playful as LEGO blocks themselves, lighting plays a large role in setting the tone. With so much square footage to illuminate, Lumenwerx collaborated with BDG Architecture + Design and Lux Collaborative to develop a system that could balance comfort and performance across workstations, transitory spaces, circulation pathways, and more, while achieving the project’s sustainability goals.
To bring the project together, Lumenwerx proposed a carefully curated range of fixture collections to define the flow of each individual space. Featured collections included Curvia, Evoq, Pop, Ubik and Via. Fixtures of varying sizes from each were selected to enhance architectural character and align with LEGO’s playful yet purposeful design philosophy.
The LEGO Group Americas Hub perfectly demonstrates how a unified lighting program can support and enhance large, complex workplace projects. LEGO’s one-of-a-kind headquarters represent a significant addition to their global network, and offer a sustainable, high-quality office environment that’s much appreciated by the people who work and visit there. Lumenwerx is extremely proud to have played a part in fitting the blocks of light together.
